Advance Voting Begins Thursday

Advance voting begins Thursday at 15 satellite sites in Sedgwick County including The Center for Health and Wellness, Bel Aire City Building and the Sedgwick County Zoo. 

Election Commissioner Tabitha Lehman says voters can take advantage of the opportunity before the August 7 Primary.

“Voters can start going to any of our satellite sites today beginning at noon and those will be open until Saturday at 4pm and the voters just need to make sure to bring their government issued voter ID,” says Lehman.

Candidate Forum To Take Place Sunday At Wichita State

With the August 7 primary approaching, voters will have the opportunity to hear from some of the candidates.

The Wichita Voter Empowerment 2012 Committee will sponsor a Community Candidates Forum at a church near Wichita State this Sunday.

Candidates running for office on the National, State and Local level have confirmed their attendance at the forum.

Several candidates will participate in a question and answer period after their platform presentations.  A meet the candidate reception will follow.

Opponents Face Off At Forum For Judicial And DA Candidates

The Wichita Women Attorneys Association Monday night held a candidate forum for the judicial and district attorney races in Sedgwick county.

The DA race and 5 judicial races will be decided in the Republican Primary.

The forum held at the Hughs Metroplex on the WSU campus featured candidates from the six contested judicial races, and the two candidates for District Attorney.

Republicans Kevin O’Connor and Marc Bennett are running for the spot that will be vacated by DA Nola Foulston who is retiring after 24 years of service. The race will be decided in the primary.

Tuesday Is The Voter Registration Deadline For The August Primary

Tuesday is the deadline for Kansans to register to vote or update their registration in time for the primary election. 

During the August 7 vote, Republicans and Democrats will chose their candidates for the fall election.

Result Of Republican Senate Primaries Could Hinge On Voter Turnout

A handful of incumbent Republican state senators are facing primary challenges in Kansas, and the leadership of the Senate hangs in the balance.

The goal of some Republicans in Kansas is to defeat the current moderate leadership in the Senate.

Turnout in primaries is often low.

Washburn University Political Science Professor Mark Peterson says whichever candidates can turnout their supporters will probably come out on top.
