Event Description

On View: SEPTEMBER 9 – DECEMBER 10, 2017 looking at the overlooked brings together the work of Houston-based artists Jamal Cyrus and Nathaniel Donnett with Los Angeles-based artist Rodney McMillian. Though they differ in the execution of their artwork all three share a common approach to materials and materiality. In looking at the overlooked, the artists employ the vernacular of commonplace materials in their respective multimedia practices. Responding to issues of site, history, the body, and architecture, their work uses strategies of assemblage, performance and language to create works that speak to issues of representation and cultural practice, while activating the past, and propositions for the future, in the present moment. Gallery Hours: 11 AM-5 PM Tuesday-Friday. 1 PM-5 PM Saturday and Sunday. Museum is Closed on Mondays and all major holidays.
