Monday, May 20: We’ll hear selections from Pale Green Ghosts by singer-songwriter John Grant. Grant made a name for himself fronting the band Czars in Denver, Colorado but it was his 2010 album Queen of Denmark, featuring the Texas band Midlake that won him his widest exposure yet. This time out Grant favors synth pop sounds on a record he recorded in Iceland, where has been living for the past few years. We’ll also hear new music from Modern Vampires of the City the new album by Vampire Weekend. The New York City-based band brings together elements of synthpop, Afrobeat, and baroque pop on this third critically acclaimed album.

A Musical Life: Mark Green

Mark Green is a founding member of the instrumental rock band Standing In The Colour, which he formed with his sister Erin Gangwere (bass) and her husband Mike (drums). Rounding out the group is brother Ryan Green. The quartet was founded in 2009 and recently issued its self-titled debut.

The Forum Theatre presents The Full Monty now through May 19. Based on the 1997 film, this musical comedy follows six unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, New York who have no cash and no prospects. They set out to make some quick cash by showing off their "real man" bodies in their own stripper act.

Drew Patton first discovered his passion for music by watching Wichita bands such as Ricky Fitts and Hanoi Chevrolet during his high school years. He began playing music shortly thereafter in a succession of bands including punk, progressive rock (with the band Cosmic Octave) and beyond.

Upon entering college, he discovered an interest in jazz (including greats such as Joe Pass) and quickly became infatuated with writing music "on the page" because he was able to discover new harmonies outside of what he was accustomed to playing on the instrument.

The Wichita State University School of Performing Arts presents Crazy For You from May 2 to the 5. Crazy for You is the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930s playboy, whose dream in life is to dance. Despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon-to-be ex-fiancée, Bobby achieves his dream in an unexpected place. It’s a high-energy comedy that includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers, and classic Gershwin music.
