A Musical Life: Mark Green

Mark Green is a founding member of the instrumental rock band Standing In The Colour, which he formed with his sister Erin Gangwere (bass) and her husband Mike (drums). Rounding out the group is brother Ryan Green. The quartet was founded in 2009 and recently issued its self-titled debut.

Drew Patton first discovered his passion for music by watching Wichita bands such as Ricky Fitts and Hanoi Chevrolet during his high school years. He began playing music shortly thereafter in a succession of bands including punk, progressive rock (with the band Cosmic Octave) and beyond.

Upon entering college, he discovered an interest in jazz (including greats such as Joe Pass) and quickly became infatuated with writing music "on the page" because he was able to discover new harmonies outside of what he was accustomed to playing on the instrument.

A Washington, D.C., native, Geoffrey Deibel is emerging as an important voice for the saxophone and contemporary music. Geoff's performances as soloist and chamber musician have taken him around the United States and across the globe. Geoff is a member of the critically acclaimed h2 quartet, a first prize winner at the Fischoff Competition and recent recipient of an Aaron Copland Fund Recording Grant.

Raymond Clause has performed with the country band Against The Grain as well as with legendary country artists Johnny Lee and Mel Tillis and even jazz great Maynard Ferguson. He is the founder and administrative teacher of the Wichita Music Teachers Group, an organization that offers private music lessons to students of all ages in cities such as Wichita, Wellington, Winfield and Goddard.

Kyle Cramb (born 1983, Wichita, Kan.) played guitar in progressive post-rock bands between 2000-2006, then established a love for drum machines, sampling and programming.
He's said composing music with the aid of computers instead of other band members made sense to him because he didn't have to rely on someone else to be available. Drum machines and samplers had good timing and were at his fingertips, which he found liberating.

Dustin Arbuckle first teamed up with musical partner Aaron Moreland in 2001 after they met at an open mic night. Soon after that they recorded under the name The King Snakes before changing the band's name to Moreland & Arbuckle circa 2005. The pair has recorded four albums as Moreland and Arbuckle, including 1861 (2008), Flood (2009), and Just A Dream (2011). The trio (rounded out by drummer Kendall Newby) will release a new album this summer, which was produced by Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus the Bear, Russian Circles).

Tom Page has been an integral part of the Wichita and Kansas music scenes for more than 20 years. The guitarist performed with acts such as Sunshine Family, Winking Spaniard, and Grandpa’s .38 throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, earning a reputation not only as a gifted guitarist but a remarkable songwriter as well.

Dan Racer teaches bass, music theory, composition and directs the Chamber Orchestra at Friends University. He is an active musician in the Wichita area performing as principal bassist for the Wichita Grand Opera and as a jazz bassist with many groups in the Wichita area. He also is an active composer with works in a variety of genres from classical to jazz and beyond. Many of his works have been premiered by Friends University ensembles as well as musicians in Wichita and around the world.

Arleigh Aldrich has been a cellist with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra for five years. She grew up in the Wichita area and was cultivated by the thriving music community. She graduated from Wichita State University with her degree in marketing, and works for the orchestra as a marketing and public relations manager.
