KMUW’s Carla Eckels reports...</p><p></p> Thu, 10 Jul 2014 01:22:00 +0000 Carla Eckels 37215 at Ferric Sulfate Leaks Into Arkansas River City Council Approves Plan To Address Contaminated Groundwater In West Wichita <p>The Wichita City Council has approved a water plan for an area near a section of the city where officials have found contaminated groundwater.</p><p>On Tuesday the council approved an emergency water line for Rolling Hills Court in west Wichita.</p><p>Rolling Hills Court is next to, but not within, an area in Wichita where the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has identified groundwater contamination from a former dry cleaning business.</p> Thu, 19 Jun 2014 16:46:51 +0000 Associated Press 36193 at Kansas Geological Survey Says That Groundwater Levels Decreased More Slowly in 2013 <p>The Kansas Geological Survey says groundwater levels in southwest Kansas declined at a slower pace in 2013 than in recent years.</p><p>The KGS also says increases in wells around south-central Kansas are attributed to above-average rainfall that reduced irrigation during the spring growing season.</p><p>Preliminary information shows that water tables in southwest Kansas dropped over 2 feet last year.
