7 Must-See Movies For Your Snow Day

Twelve inches of snow? Work/school/rugby practice canceled?

We've got you covered. Here are seven movies that might make you feel better about being stuck inside.

Although you might want to send the kids out to make snow angels for some of these.

1) Fargo

Joel and Ethan Coen's 1996 crime masterpiece perfectly hits the rhythms of life in the upper Midwest and the desolation of the Minnesota winter. Also, there's a wood chipper.

2) Alive

Ethan Hawke pretends to be Uruguayan in this based-on-a-true-story of survival in the Andes. Not for the faint of heart.

3) Ravenous

Even less for the faint of heart, this 1999 thriller is very (VERY) loosely based on the famous cannibal, Alferd Packer. Robert Carlyle is, um, deliciously evil.

4) Better Off Dead

Lighten up, will ya? Here's something fun. Ski competitions, teenage love, John Cusack. Who can beat it?

Two dollars!

5) Cool Runnings

Maybe you've had enough of the snow. Why not head to Jamaica?

Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up! It's bobsled time!

6) Misery

Sometimes you don't get to choose whether or not to stay inside.

7) The Shining

You didn't think we'd forget this one, did you?

But just for fun, here's what The Shining would look like as a rom-com:

Stay warm!
