Night Train marks birthdays of hard bop master Benny Golson (including a special in hour two devoted to his classic early compositions), two greats of Brazilian music – Antonio Carlos Jobim and Leny Andrade (with music from her new album with guitarist Roni Ben-Hur) – and Etta James (with a selection from an album she did in tribute to Billie Holiday). Plus more of the Best of 2015 – including Grammy nominee Cecile McLorin Salvant, an NPR Jazz Critics Poll pick – Jazz at Lincoln Center Live in Cuba, and two new releases featuring one of the jazz giants who passed away in 2015, Phil Woods, in concert sets with Greg Abate and with his classic quintet.

Night Train celebrates Australia Day with music from some jazz artists from Down Under, including Chris McNulty, James Morrison and Barney McAll. Plus a birthday salute to jazz violin great Stephane Grappelli and more of the Best of 2015 – this time with Night Train favorite Harold Mabern and the Grammy-nominated Complete Concert by the Sea from Erroll Garner.

Night Train marks birthdays of vibes great Bobby Hutcherson, saxophonist and composer Bob Mintzer, and one of the greats of the Great American songbook, Jerome Kern. Plus more of the Best of 2015, the January feature – this time from show favorites George & Chico Freeman, and the Jeff Benedict Big Big Band, along with Grammy nominees Marcus Miller, Tony Bennett with Bill Charlap, and Denise Donatelli.

Night Train highlights some contemporary jazz guitarists – including the ‘big three’ – Bill Frisell, John Scofield and Pat Metheny, all with new releases out, along with a new release from WSU jazz guitar professor, William Flynn. Plus new music from singer Kim Nalley, saxophonist Kirsten Edkins, and Band of Bones, and a final round of favorites from 2015 including guitarist Gilad Hekselman, singer Joyce Moreno with pianist Kenny Werner, pianist Joey Calderazzo, John Ellis & Double Wide - and a 2015 jazz tribute to David Bowie from singer and actress Lea Delaria
