Night Train continues with more of the Best of 2014, including music from show favorite and tuba great Bob Stewart's album Connections: Mind the Gap. Other highlights include new music from guitarist Peter Hand’s Big Band; and marks birthdays of guitarist Jim Hall, and trombonist and arranger Melba Liston – including a Jazz Profiles special about Liston in hour two of the show.

Night Train marks birthdays of guitarist Nguyen Le, bassist Mark Egan and trumpeter Kenny Wheeler; highlights music from artists with regional concerts this week; and continues with more of the Best of 2014 feature –including Grammy nominee Rene Marie, Night Train favorites Chick Corea and Everette Devan, and tributes to Horace Silver and Jazz Crusaders Joe Sample and Wayne Henderson, who passed away last year.

Night Train highlights some new standards this time – include a Willie Dixon classic by Hank Crawford, Freddy Cole “Singing the Blues,” an Aretha Franklin hit from the new album from the Brad Goode Quartet, Ben Flocks doing Dylan, and David Fathead Newman with a Curtis Mayfield cover.
Plus more of the Best of 2014 – including Night Train favorites Theo Croker, the Helge Lien Trio, Dave Stryker, Jeff Coffin & the Mu’tet, and the Grammy-nominated 2014 release from the Archie Shepp Attica Blues Orchestra.
