Monday, July 25

Global Village marks the birthday of Rita Marley with music she did under her own name and as part of the I-Threes, the vocal trio that backed Bob Marley & the Wailers. Plus more music for the July Santana feature - including covers of his songs from Angelique Kidjo and Africando and music from the Corazon and Caravanserai albums – and a new roots reggae set from Quantic and a new release from acclaimed African guitarist Djelimady Tounkara.

Tuesday, July 26

Today marks the birthday of cuatro and salsa great Yomo Toro. Global Village pays tribute to him in a special edition of the show that features music spanning his seven decade-long career - from solo albums to recordings he did with the Fania All Stars, Willie Colon, Hector Lavoe, Roswell Rudd, Daniel Ponce, David Byrne and Ned Sublette.

Wednesday, July 27

Global Village takes off on another exploration of world jazz – with the jazz side of Fela from the new reissue of music he did with his early band, Koola Lobitos; a tribute to John Coltrane from July featured artist Carlos Santana along with John McLaughlin; two new Rough Guide compilations featuring Brazilian and South African jazz; and a new flamenco-jazz release from Terceto Kali.
