The free Book-A-Librarian program was developed to meet the growing needs of customers. Cindy Bailey, Technology Training Manager at Wichita’s Central Library, says it’s a personalized way to learn about e-books, computers and digital devices.
"If you just got a new smartphone maybe for the first time or you got an iPad for Christmas or you just bought a new tablet or new laptop or if you need help with new Window’s version 8.1, it’s quite different, we can help you with that," Bailey says.
Librarians also help customers search for jobs online. Bailey says people can make an appointment and spend up to one hour with a librarian. Laptops are available at the library or customers can bring in a device. Technology training classes are also offered throughout the summer at no cost. The services are available at the Central Library and five other branches.
The demonstration will take place at a white tent just west of the Central Library Thursday at 11:30 am. The library branches are Alford, Westlink, Rockwell, Evergreen and Angelou.
