September 23/25

Crossroads continues the September feature of music from Otis Redding (with music from his last posthumous album, Tell the Truth, and King and Queen with Carla Thomas) and more brass band sounds, including a forthcoming album and first studio set in five years from March Fourth.

Plus birthday salutes to Ray Charles, Fenton Robinson, Mighty Joe Young and Ben E. King, new music from the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Mighty Sam McClain, The Soul of John Black and more, and music from artists with concerts in the coming week.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
