Celebrating Twilight Zone Day, Friday The 13th And A Real Phenomenon

Tuesday, May 10

1861 saw Moreland & Arbuckle experimenting with a variety of sounds including hard-edged blues and country music. We’ll hear selections from that release as well as from The Morning After, the 1971 album by the J. Geils Band. 

Wednesday, May 11

We celebrate Twilight Zone Day with music from William Shatner, Rush, John Grant and other acts both strange and unsettling.

Thursday, May 12

Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas band Oil Boom has gained a reputation in recent years for first-rate songs and powerful live shows. We’ll hear from the group’s recent LP Red Metal as well as from Phenomenon, the classic LP from British rock band UFO. The record features German-born guitarist Michael Schenker, a founding member of the band Scorpions, who has become one of the most influential voices in rock guitar, influencing players such as Metallica’s Kirk Hammett and many more.

It’s our Friday the 13th Special with music from The Cure, John Grant, Roky Erickson, and many others. 

Saturday, May 14

France’s Caravan Palace created a sensation in its home country and across Europe nearly a decade ago with its unique brand of electronic dance music and gypsy swing sounds. We’ll hear from the band’s 2015 release Robot Face as well as A Moon Shaped Pool, the latest release from Radiohead.

Monday, May 16

It’s been a decade since Petra Haden released her a capella version of The Who’s The Who Sell Out. We’ll hear selections from that release as well as from Todd Rundgren’s 1985 release A Capella.
