Central Library Showcases Traveling Photography Exhibit

A national photography exhibit will be on display at the Wichita Central Public Library through Saturday April 30.

The exhibit is titled “Red Desert, Green Prairie, Blue Sky” and combines three separate photography exhibits highlighting different geographic regions.

The green sunflower-dotted prairie of Kansas is among regions explored.

One of eight artists featured is panoramic photographer George Jerkovich who contrasts the rolling hills of the Dakota Sandstone region to its flat, semi-arid plains.

Other issues explored include the intervals of settlement, steady population decline, the decline of cattle ranching and an economical shift away from agriculture.

You can find more information by visiting the Wichita Public Library online at wichita.lib.ks.us.
