Chuck Berry’s Birthday, Chuck Berry’s Pianist (Johnnie Johnson) & More Maria Muldaur

October 16/18

Crossroads marks the birthday of Chuck Berry with some of his classic tracks and a special in hour two of the show with music from a 60th birthday performance with special guests Eric Clapton, Linda Rondstadt, Etta James and Julian Lennon – and interviews with John Lennon, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry, himself.

Plus Berry’s birthday is also an opportunity to celebrate the music of his great pianist – Johnnie Johnson. Crossroads highlights music from two albums he did with the Kentucky Headhunters and two solo projects – one produced by Keith Richards and featuring members of NRBQ.

There’s also more music from October featured artist Maria Muldaur, music from artists with concerts in the coming week, and new albums from Joe Louis Walker, the Andy T/Nick Nixon Band and Slam Allen.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
