Concert Previews + A Final Round Of Brass Bands & Otis Redding

September 30/October 2

Crossroads wraps up the September feature with some classic tracks from Otis Redding and some Crescent City brass bands, including the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, who helped usher in the modern sound and era of New Orleans Brass Bands. Also music from artists with concerts in the coming week, and the latest from soul singer Charles Bradley (often compared to Otis Redding) and a new compilation of music from the great New Orleans funk band, the Meters.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
