‘Concert By The Sea’ Week, Coltrane’s Birthday, Day Of Peace & First Day Of Fall

September 19th marked the 60th anniversary of Erroll Garner’s historic 'Concert by the Sea'. It was part of a concert series that led to the famed Monterey Jazz Festival, and it resulted in an album that not only was Garner’s most successful, but was something like the ‘Kind of Blue’ of its era - it seemed nearly every home had one. Now, for the first time, the complete concert has been released and Night Train will feature music from it – both popular selections from the original album, and previously unreleased material – throughout the entire week.

Monday 9.21.15

Night Train kicks off Concert by the Sea week, featuring music from the newly reissued, and for the first time complete performance of Erroll Garner’s famous concert – plus more music from September featured artist John Coltrane, birthday salutes to Jerry Hahn, Frank Foster, Slam Stewart. Chico Hamilton, and Henry Butler, and some music to mark the International Day of Peace.
