Economic Impact Of Garth Brooks Is Felt Throughout Wichita

Hugo Phan

Visit Wichita has released numbers on the economic impact of the series of Garth Brooks concerts that took place two weeks ago.

Of the 75,000 tickets sold for the six concerts held at Intrust Bank Arena, about one-third were out-of-town guests who dined, shopped and stayed in downtown Wichita.

“Visitors dined, shopped and stayed throughout Wichita,” Visit Wichita president & CEO Susie Santo said in a statement. “Our hotels in the downtown area were full but that meant those hotels both east and west saw an increase in visitor stays as well. This concert literally benefited all areas of Wichita.”

That same group of people generated an estimated $6.4 million in new economic activity in the area over the four days. Local concert-goers were found to have spent an additional $4.4 million, resulting in an estimated $7.3 million in economic activity retained in the area as a result of the concerts.
