Electric Chicago Blues, Queen Sylvia’s Birthday & Blues Show Previews

June 12/14

Crossroads kicks of the June Electric Chicago Blues feature (a celebration of both the 100th birthday of solid body electric guitar pioneer Les Paul and the 65th anniversary of the first record on the Chess label) with some classic recordings from Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf and a House of Blues Chicago Blues special in hour two of the show.

Plus a birthday salute to Chicago blues bassist, singer and bandleader, Queen Sylvia Embry, remembering Marcus Belgrave, and artists with local and regional concerts in the coming week.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
