Elvin Bishop’s 75th + Rock Hall Of Fame Nominees & New Releases

October 13/15

Throughout October Crossroads marks the 75th birthday of Elvin Bishop with music from across his career, this time including music he did early in his career with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and from his albums Let It Flow and The Blues Rolls On.

Also,  the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just announced the nominees for the Class of 2018, with winners chosen by popular vote. Blues and soul artists among those nominees are featured in this show – including Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Rufus, the Meters and Nina Simone.

And there’s new music from Dee Dee Bridgewater’s tribute to Memphis, Stanton Moore’s salute to Allen Toussaint, the Blind Boys of Alabama, and Randall Bramblett.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
