GOP Candidates For Governor To Square Off In February

Stephen Koranda

The Republican candidates for Kansas governor will square off for their first debate in February. There are currently around a dozen GOP candidates running for the job.

Republican Party Chairman Kelly Arnold said in a statement that the Feb. 17 event in Wichita will be the first of several meetings for the candidates.

“Our debate schedule will visit all four congressional districts to make sure Republican voters all-across Kansas have the opportunity to hear from the candidates for governor," Arnold said.

The second debate is planned for late March in the Kansas City area.

There’s been consternation from some campaigns about proposed rules for the GOP debates. Some proposals would limit the types of questions or bar the multiple teenagers who have entered the race.
