Gov. Brownback's Chief Of Staff Announces Resignation

Associated Press

The governor's office announced on Monday that Sam Brownback's chief of staff is stepping down. KMUW's Aileen LeBlanc reports

Landon Fulmer has accepted a position with the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. The group represents Toyota, Ford, Chrysler, General Motors,  Jaguar and others. According to their website, the group advocates for policy for the motor industry.

Fulmer has been Governor Brownback's chief of staff since April of 2012; but he also worked with him in Washington when Brownback served as senator.

Fulmer was an architect of a new school funding model and new formula for determining how funds are allocated. The plan didn't get much traction;  now Brownback is again looking at school funding options.

Jon Hummell, who is the current policy director, will double as chief of staff until a replacement can be found.

Brownback said in a statement: "Landon has been an integral part of my team for many years, both in Kansas and in Washington."
