Holiday Rush For A Tasteful Bouquet

Carla Eckels

It’s been an extremely busy week heading into Valentine’s Day on Saturday for the Fruit Bouquet Company in College Hill--the only business of its kind in Wichita. KMUW’s Carla Eckels reports…

Fruit arrangers are working around the clock creating bouquets and filling heart-shaped boxes with tasty treats.

"The swirled berries, the pineapples and apples in the box, this is the start of how we make the bouquets," explains Marsha Fitzpatrick, owner of Fruit Bouquet Company. "This is going to be the Cupid’s Kiss. With this we will add chocolate dipped berries in it as well, so you have a little bit of the fresh as well as some sweet."

"We are locally owned. We are not a national franchise," says Fitzpatrick.

And the chocolate comes in from San Francisco. As many as 600 fruit bouquets are expected be made through Valentine's Day.

Carla Eckels is Director of Organizational Culture at KMUW.
