The Islamic Society of Wichita is inviting the community to break fast at its annual Ramadan iftar dinner.
Muslims around the world fast from sun-up to sun-down during the holy month of Ramadan, which this year began on May 27 and ends June 24. The fast is broken each day with an evening meal, or iftar.
The Islamic Society of Wichita’s Friends and Neighbors dinner is a chance for non-Muslims to observe iftar.
“We invite our neighbors and friends and our colleagues that we deal with on a daily basis to come break fast, enjoy the meal with us, and just come talk to their friends of the Muslim faith," says spokesman Hussam Madi.

The Friends and Neighbors Ramadan Iftar dinner is at 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Islamic Society of Wichita. The center is asking for RSVPs through its website and Facebook, but Madi says no one will be turned away.
