It’s Better Late Than Never At Times Like This

Tuesday, October 13

Paradise is the latest release from The Wood Brothers, featuring Chris Wood, a founding member of the wide-ranging jazz trio Medeski, Martin & Wood. With his brother Oliver, he’s created an enduring and remarkable Americana group that continues to grow a following with each passing record. We’ll hear from this new release on this episode of Strange Currency as well as music from Gates of Gold, the latest from Los Lobos. 

Wednesday, October 14 

The Magic World is the latest release from The Wonder Revolution, featuring guitarist David Lord in collaboration with Ben Hunt and Sam Hake. We’ll hear from this recording as well as from Freedom, a new archival release that captures Jimi Hendrix live at the 1970 Atlanta Pop Festival and which provides the backdrop for a new documentary about the event, Electric Church.

Thursday, October 15

Listen for selections from Street Dogs, the first studio recording in five years from Widespread Panic as well as music from The Blasters and Los Lobos. 

Friday, October 16

We’ll hear selections from Ryan Adams’ recent re-creation of Taylor Swift’s 1989 as well as music from Peter Case, the Isley Brothers and Bill Frisell.

Saturday, October 17

Ashes & Dust is the new Americana-driven release from longtime Gov’t Mule vocalist and guitarist Warren Haynes. We’ll hear selections from that as well as from Lost Time, the latest from Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin. 

Monday, October 19

Better Late Than Never is the first-ever release from the Anderson-Ponty Band, bringing together Jon Anderson (formerly of Yes) and acclaimed jazz fusion violinist Jean Luc Ponty. We’ll hear from that on this episode of the show as well as material from Ponty and Anderson as solo artists. 

Tuesday, October 20

Times Like This is the 1996 release from former Replacements guitarist and longtime Minneapolis, Minnesota music scene fixture Slim Dunlap. We’ll hear music from that recording on this episode as well as music from the new LP by Blitzen Trapper, All Across This Land.
