Global Village celebrates Bastille Day with a show devoted to music from France. Along with traditional music and musette, the show highlights French world music groups, and artists from different corners of the world, often former French colonies, who now call France home. Among the performers featured – Lo’Jo, Paris Combo, Kanda Bongo Man, Manu Dibango, BibiTanga, and Maurice el Medioni.

Global Village celebrates birthdays of influential African musician and musicologist Frances Bebey, reggae great Gregory Isaacs, world jazz fusion pioneer Joe Harriott, and Brazilian saxophonist Paulo Moura. Plus music from one of the founding members of Kila (Colm Mac Con Iomaire), more French sounds – as the Bastille Day overflow continues – from Paris-based world jazz fusion guitarist Nguyen Le and Cambodian rock band Dengue Fever.
