Kobach Defends Participating In Conference

Wikimedia Commons

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is defending his participation in a conference organized by a group that's been called "anti-immigrant."

Kobach appeared at a Writers Workshop Conference in Washington, D.C. The event was sponsored by the Social Contract Press, an organization that's included on the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of over 700 hate groups in the U.S.

The group focuses on border enforcement and limits on population growth, but has also written anti-Muslim documents and about many crimes which are purportedly committed by undocumented workers.

Kobach said to the press that the criticism of the workshop is outrageous and that there were minority presenters at the conference.

The Social Contract Press depicts in a photo the Southern Poverty Law Center as three witches stirring a pot of slime.
