KS Midterm Elections In National Spotlight

Abigail Wilson

Kansas midterm elections are in the national spotlight, and the gubernatorial and senate races will be the focus of a national call-in show Tuesday, October 7, at 9:00 a.m. (CDT). Tom Ashbrook will field calls and talk with experts on his show, On Point, from WBUR in Boston, MA. Guests on the show include:

  • Wint Winter, former Republican State Senator in Kansas. Founding member of Republicans for Kansas Values. CEO of People’s Bank.
  • Bob Beatty, professor of political science at Washburn University.
  • Gerald Seib, assistant managing editor of The Wall Street Journal.

KMUW listeners can listen live on 89.1 or through the "listen live" button at www.kmuw.org. They can also join the conversation on the air by calling 1-800-423-8255 during the live broadcast, between 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. (CDT).
Three things to remember when calling:

  • Please turn off your radio: Having a radio on the background creates an echo due to the slight delay in broadcast times. Please turn off your radio and listen to the program on your phone’s handset.
  • No Speakerphone: The best sound comes from using a land line telephone. Please use one if it is available. But whether it is a cell phone or land line, please don’t use speakerphone.
  • When you get on the air… Please don’t say things like “Good morning,” since the show airs at different times all around the country. Stick with “Hi, Tom.” First names are fine.
