Maize School District Building Searched By FBI, Two Employees Placed On Leave

Maize Unified School District 266

Information is scarce as to why FBI investigators are targeting the Maize School District Educational Support Center--the district's headquarters. In a letter sent out on Tuesday, parents were told that school officials are cooperating with the investigation and that it does not involve student safety.

“We can confirm that two district employees have been placed on administrative leave,” says Lori O’TooleBuselt, director of communications for Maize School District.

Officials for the FBI are also tight-lipped.

“What I can tell you is that we executed search warrants in regards to an ongoing investigative matter,” spokesperson Bridget Patton says. “There are no additional details at this time.”

Neither agency could give a timetable of when more information might be expected.

Below is the information sent to parents of Maize School District students

Dear parents and guardians, Maize USD 266 currently is cooperating with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in an ongoing investigation. Please know that the investigation is not related to students or the safety of our students or employees and is limited to the Educational Support Center. At this time, the district is unable to comment further. Thank you. Lori O’Toole Buselt Director of Communications Maize USD 266
