New Month/New Music Time - Best New Blues Releases

November 4/6

It’s “New Month/New Music” time as Crossroads teams up with Global Village and Strange Currency at the beginning of every month to highlight the best in new blues releases. Among the highlights:

A preview of the Rolling Stones’ new album, a return to the blues and first studio album in a decade, due out in December

Austrian blues and soul-jazz organist Raphael Wressnig with Brazilian bluesman Igor Prado

The 50th anniversary release of Otis Redding’s Dictionary of Soul with rare live and studio added tracks

A salute to Crescent City legend Dr. John with an all-star guest lineup

The Big Head Blues Club’s new set of classic songs from blues legend Willie Dixon

The latest from harmonica master Sugar Ray and the Bluetones

And a 12th album from roots blues band Mississippi Heat.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
