It’s “New Month/New Music” time as Crossroads teams up with Global Village and Strange Currency at the beginning of every month to highlight the best in new blues releases. Among the highlights this time:

A new album of contemporary songs from Grammy-winner Mavis Staples of the Staple Singers

Another new set from contemporary Chicago bluesman Toronzo Cannon

A tribute to gospel blues great Blind Willie Johnson that includes Tom Waits, Rickie Lee Jones, the Blind Boys of Alabama and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, among others

British soul man James Hunter

Bonnie Raitt back with her 20^th album and first in four years

And new compilations of classic tracks from blues great Elmore James and R&B star Amos Milburn
