New Month/New Music Time At The Crossroads!

April 1/3

It’s “New Month/New Music” time as Crossroads teams up with Global Village and Strange Currency at the beginning of every month to highlight the best in new blues releases. Among the highlights this time are new albums from:

Soul blues singer and harp man Curtis Salgado

Singer Janiva Magness

Crescent City “Prodigal Son” Keith Stone

“The Screaming Eagle of Soul,” Charles Bradley

Jazzy B3 player King Louie with singer LaRhonda Steele

Reissues from blues greats Magic Sam and Elmore James

And several new releases for the April gospel blues feature: “God Don’t Never Change – The Songs of Blind Willie Johnson;” Snarky Puppy organist Cory Henry’s “The Revival;” Avery Sharpe’s tribute to Sister Rosette Tharpe, “Sharpe Meets Tharpe;” and the latest from Mavis Staples.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
