Parents Can Learn About District Programs At Wichita Public Schools 'Choices Fair'

Wichita Public Schools

The Choices Fair for Wichita Public Schools is this evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Century II Exhibition Hall. The fair allows parents to look at all the educational options the district offers for students.

The district describes the Choices Fair as a place for parents to do "one-stop school shopping." According to a release from Wichita Public Schools, the fair is an opportunity for parents and students to see which school or program will help their child excel. Representatives from all 24 magnet schools will be at the event, as will staff from the district's neighborhood and alternative schools, and special programs.

Magnet schools within USD 259 are designed to have more hands-on learning than traditional schools and focus on a certain area of study such as communications, career readiness, leadership or STEM education. Students who apply for a magnet school are chosen randomly, and there are no tests or selection criteria to qualify.

The application deadline for all magnet schools is Dec. 16.
