The R&B Years 1953-56, Grammy Winners, Blues Hall Of Fame Inductees, Fats Domino & Concert Previews

February 26/28

This week at the Crossroads for the February feature, it’s the final four years in The R&B Years series, covering 1953-1956. Among the artists featured from that time are Fats Domino (whose birthday is Friday), Billy Boy Arnold (with a song inducted into this year’s Blues Hall of Fame) and Ruth Brown (honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Grammys).

Plus music from this year’s Grammy winners, artists with concerts in the coming week, and artists newly named to the Blues Hall of Fame (a preview of the Crossroads March feature).

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
