Wednesday, April 27

Global Village marks Independence Days in Sierra Leone and Togo and Freedom Day (commemorating the first democratic elections) in South Africa with music from those countries – features the new 20th anniversary release from April featured artists Fanfare Ciocarlia – and highlights new music from St. Lucia’s Taj Weekes and flamenco artist Paco El Lobo.

Thursday, April 28

Global Village highlights more music from April featured artists Fanfare Ciocarlia – this time from their critically acclaimed Queens & Kings album that teamed them up with some of the world’s best Roma singers. Plus birthday salutes to guitarists Leni Stern and Steve Khan, Latin jazz pioneer Mario Bauza, and salsa star Willie Colon, and new music from the New York Gypsy All Stars, Carrie Rodriguez, and the Rough Guide to a World of Psychedelia.

Plus new music from New Zealand’s Fat Freddy’s Drop, and a final fling with April featured artists  Fanfare Ciocarlia.
