Remembering Blues Legend B.B. King

May 22/24

One of the true giants of the blues, B.B. King, passed away last week and Crossroads will pay tribute to him in a special edition of the show. Music from throughout his career, plus guest appearances and covers of his songs are featured in hour one of the show, while hour two is devoted to a Paul Ingles special documenting King’s life and music and sharing a number of his classic songs. Crossroads will also take a few brief diversions to highlight music from artists with regional concerts in the coming week, including recent Blues Music Award winner and Memphis blues inspired artist, John Nemeth, and B.B. King’s good friend, Buddy Guy.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
