A new boxed set explores the decade-long reign of Boston’s The Cars. Listen for selections from the band’s first six albums all recorded for the Elektra label. We’ll also hear selections from the latest by longtime Guided By Voices leader Robert Pollard.
Thursday, March 24
Inspired by Southern Gothic writings, gospel music and punk rock, Lincoln Durham has returned with a powerful new album, Revelations of a Mind Unravelling, which recalls blues greats such as Son House and Fred McDowell as well as the music of contemporary artists such as Nick Cave. We’ll hear selections from this release as well as music from the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

Saturday, March 26
Patch The Sky is the latest release by punk rock legend Bob Mould. The guitarist and vocalist says that many of the songs on this new release were inspired by death and loss, both of which were in ample supply while he wrote the record in 2015. The record recalls his work with both Husker Du and Sugar. We’ll hear selections from that release as well as music from the latest by Cheap Trick, Bang Zoom Crazy Hello.
Monday, March 28
The always-eclectic Black Mountain returns with a new album IV, which explores space rock, progressive rock and even some of the band’s most pop-leaning material to date. We’ll also hear selections from THRAK, the 1995 album from King Crimson. The record reunited the 1980s lineup of Bill Bruford, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp and Tony Levin but added Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto to create what Fripp referred to as a “double trio.”
Tuesday, March 29
Celebrated producer Dave Cobb has just released a new compilation titled Southern Family which finds a variety of acts celebrating their southern heritage including Jason Isbell, John Paul White (The Civil Wars), Shooter Jennings and Rich Robinson (Black Crowes). We’ll hear selections from that release on this episode of the show as well music from the latest by Shooter Jennings.
