Remembering Michael Coleman, Celebrating Dr. John’s Birthday & Featuring Blues Saxophones

Crossroads celebrates the birthday of Crescent City legend Dr. John with music from his early days up to his new album in hour one, and a House of Blues Special in hour two of the show. Also a tribute to  Chicago bluesman Michael Coleman, who passed away earlier this month, with music under his own name and with James Cotton,  and  more saxophone sounds for the November feature, including music from Jr. Walker, A.C. Reed, Joe Houston and David “Fathead” Newman.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
