The data from Better Policies for a Healthier America compares obesity rates between 2014 and 2015. Kansas was one of only two states, the other being Kentucky, whose rates increased.

Last year, 34 percent of Kansans had a body mass index of 30 or more.

The highest rate of obesity was in Louisiana, and the lowest was in Colorado. Only four states had a decreased rate: Minnesota, Ohio, New York and Montana.

Kansas, like most states, has progressively gotten worse over the years. In 2007, Kansas was ranked 23rd.
