Report: Kansas Ranks Fourth In Volunteering

A report released on Monday ranks Kansas fourth in the nation for volunteering.

The Corporation for National and Community Service's Volunteering and Civic Life in America report says nearly 37 percent of Kansas residents volunteered in 2012.

Nearly 808,000 volunteers gave almost 83 million hours of service.

The corporation estimated the worth of that work at 1.59 billion dollars.

The Associated Press is one of the largest and most trusted sources of independent newsgathering, supplying a steady stream of news to its members, international subscribers and commercial customers. AP is neither privately owned nor government-funded; instead, it's a not-for-profit news cooperative owned by its American newspaper and broadcast members.
