Roberts and Orman Meet Tonight For Final Debate

Abigail Wilson

Incumbent U. S. Senator Pat Roberts and independent challenger Greg Orman will meet in Wichita tonight for a final debate. KMUW’s Abigail Wilson reports…

The contest between Roberts and Orman has catapulted Kansas into the national spotlight. Polls indicate a difference of only a few points and the race could sway the control of the U.S. Senate.

The two will meet for a live debate this evening at the local KSN television station, which will broadcast the event statewide. It will be the candidates' third and final joint appearance since Democrat Chad Taylor withdrew from the race, leaving Roberts in what has been described as a vulnerable position.

Roberts has tried to depict his challenger as a liberal Democrat in disguise, while Orman has argued that Roberts is a centrist who is part of the problem with the gridlock in Washington.

The live debate starts at 7 p.m. on KSN.
