In anticipation of the approaching school year, the Sedgwick County Health Department is offering a vaccination clinic this weekend.
Vaccinations required for the upcoming school year include polio, both hepatitis A and B, and one for measles, mumps and rubella.
According to the county health department, vaccinations help create a stronger immune system by developing protection against future infections. An immunized population also helps protect those who are not able to get vaccinations.
Parents are asked to bring their child’s shot record to the clinic. State law requires documentation of student immunizations for all children in school, with some exceptions.
There is help for those without insurance and anyone who cannot afford vaccinations.
The first day of school for Wichita Public Schools is Tuesday, August 18.
