Sedgwick County’s Non-Emergency Line For Fireworks Complaints Open July 1-4

Sedgwick County will once again be staffing a special phone line to handle fireworks complaint calls during the Fourth of July holiday period.

The county’s Emergency Communications Department is offering a non-emergency phone number--316-290-1011--as an alternative to 911 for nuisance calls.

That way, people who have complaints about parties, excessive noise or illegal fireworks won’t block emergency calls from reaching dispatch.

Fire Marshal Stuart Bevis says common courtesy goes a long way this time of year.

"We’re glad you are celebrating, but you still need to be courteous to your neighbors," Bevis says. "After midnight, it’s not legal anymore to be shooting off fireworks."

And clean up after yourself once the fireworks are done, he adds.

The non-emergency phone line will be open nightly from 6:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. beginning Saturday and ending Wednesday morning.

Calls to the non-emergency line outside those hours will be routed to 911.
