Monday 3.24.14

Night Train marks birthdays of vocalese pioneer King Pleasure, Oregon co-founder Paul McCandless, and pianists Steve Kuhn and Renee Rosnes (including a special in hour two featuring Rosnes along with husband Bill Charlap at the Savannah Music Festival). Plus a new Beatles jazz compilation, the latest from soprano saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom, and more from March featured artist Pat Metheny – from his solo album, One Quiet Night.

Tuesday 3.25.14

It’s a piano showcase tonight on the Night Train with new music from pianists Bruce Barth, Edward Simon, George Cables and Mike Longo – along with selections from Brad Mehldau, Cedar Walton and Jessica Williams. Plus more from March featured artist Pat Metheny (this time with another acclaimed guitarist, John Scofield), and classics from Eddie Harris, and Jimmy Smith with Wes Montgomery.

Wednesday 3.26.14

Night Train highlights more from March featured artist Pat Metheny (this time with music from the We Live Here album), along with the latest from Dr. Lonnie Smith, the Juno-nominated album from singer Amy McConnell & trumpeter William Sperandei, and a birthday salute to tenor sax and flute great James Moody, including a Jazz Profiles special in hour two of the show. 

Thursday 3.27.14

Night Train marks birthdays of tenor giant Ben Webster, and singer Stacey Kent, and the legendary Sarah Vaughan (including a Jazz Profiles special featuring Vaughan in hour two of the show). Also more from March featured artist Pat Metheny, and new music from Dave Stryker, Vanessa Rubin with Don Braden, and Steve Heckman.
