South African guitarist Jonathan Butler and his new release Living My Dream on Soulsations Sunday

Sunday June 29, 2014

Listen on Soulsations Sunday for new music from South African guitarist Jonathan Butler. The Living My Dream release opens with the instrumental “African Breeze.” Butler wrote the single 30 years ago for The Jewel of the Nile soundtrack, a Hollywood movie starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. “I wanted to redo it and make it a ‘now’ experience,” he says of the brisk, energetic African-hued dancer with the festive melody plucked on nylon string guitar.  The album is a mix of R&B vocals and instrumentals including the collaboration with George Duke written and recorded in his final days, the meditative instrumental, Be Still
