Storytellers To Offer Bone-Chilling Tales At Wichita Griots Event

With Halloween just around the corner, the Wichita Griots are gearing up for some storytelling at their 13th annual fall festival event.

"Scary Stories Told In The Creepy Dark" will feature Griots founder Jean Pouncil-Burton, also known as "Ms. Jean." She'll tell a story about a man living way back in the woods, haunted by a spooky animal.

Storytelling is a great way for the Griots to connect with an audience. Ms. Jean says it's important to step into a story and make it come alive.

"Everyone enjoys a good story that's well told, including the parents," Ms. Jean says. "The parents come, and they say they have just as much fun as the children do."

She says that about seven of the professional storytellers will be on hand to share spooky stories.

"Scary Stories Told In The Creepy Dark" by the Griots will take place at North Heights Christian Church on Oct. 29 at 5 p.m.
