Minnesota-based musician Charlie Parr has been making albums for many years but has never worked with a full band until his latest release, Stumpjumper. Recorded in a matter of hours with friend and fellow musician Phil Cook, the record is one of Parr’s best to date. We’ll hear selections from that release on this episode of the show as well as music from Phil Cook’s brand new release, Southland Mission.

Oklahoma’s Turnpike Troubadours have just returned with their first album in three years. A self-titled release, the record focuses on the group’s familiar roots rock and country blend and is arguably the group’s best release to date. We’ll hear selections from that recording on this episode of the show as well as music from a recent compilation from The Continental Drifters, the under-appreciated 1990’s Americana band that featured Vicki Peterson of The Bangles, Peter Holsapple of REM and The dB’s and Susan Cowsill of the legendary family act The Cowsills.

30 Trips Around The Sun is a massive boxed set from the Grateful Dead, featuring 30 live shows in their entirety, covering the San Francisco group’s first three decades as a band, culminating in the final Dead tour with Jerry Garcia in 1995. We’ll hear a sampling of that new box on this episode of the show as well as live music from the Isley Brothers.

HWY 62 is the first album of all-new material by singer-songwriter Peter Case in five years. Case, who cut his teeth in a variety of punk rock bands has earned a reputation as one of America’s most consistent and insightful songwriters over the last 30 years. This new release finds his writing about familiar topics, including social justice and matters of the heart. We’ll hear selections from that release as well as music from John Moreland’s 2015 release High On Tulsa Heat.
