Three Satellite Tag Offices Set To Close This Fall

The Sedgwick County tag office in Brittney Center is one the of satellite sites set to close in November. Work on a new tag office on the east side begins in August.

Work on a new tag office in east Wichita will begin next month. Sedgwick County officials plan to close all three satellite sites in November.

The new tag office will be near the corner of Kellogg and Edgemoor, in a vacated space that was formerly an Ultra Modern Pool & Patio. The satellite offices at 21st and Woodlawn, 21st and Maize and in Derby will close in November.

Sedgwick County Treasurer Linda Kizzire says the new tag office will be designed like a larger facility that opened at 2525 W. Douglas in Wichita two years ago.

"The vision is to have another east side office with 25 tag clerks — which is four more than what all three satellite offices have — to get the customers in and out a little smoother and a little more cost effective and a little less time waiting," Kizzire says.

By consolidating, the county will save on additional security costs, data lines, trash and alarm monitoring services. Kizzire says there’s also a plan for next year to open kiosks that would renew tags at designated locations across Sedgwick County.
