Wichita City Council Votes To Move Forward With Apartment Project
The Wichita City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to amend an agreement for a major apartment structure to be built in downtown Wichita. The change allows the Exchange Place Project to more forward.
Airbus Donates Parts, Kits To WSU's NIAR
Airplane manufacturer Airbus has donated airplane structural parts and kits worth more than $800,000 to Wichita State University's National Institute for Aviation Research.
The institute's laboratories and training classes will study their structural durability and damage tolerance. Instructors will also use the materials in classes on composite fabrication, repair and testing.
Wichita Teen Arrested Over Threatening Tweet
A 15-year-old Maize student is in trouble for a tweet about school killings.
The boy allegedly posted a threat to kill 20 students, his mother, and himself on the micro-blogging site Twitter. He was quickly interviewed and arrested on a juvenile misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
The boy told officers he wasn't serious about the threat and did not have the means to carry it out. Though Police Lieutenant Doug Nolte says police don't believe the threat was credible, they take all threats of this kind seriously.
Police Investigating Abuse Of Turkey By KU Frat
A University of Kansas fraternity has been suspended indefinitely by its national organization, after hearing reports that its members abused and killed a turkey at a party.
Lawrence police are still investigating a report of animal cruelty at a Beta Theta Phi party last week. The turkey had been rented for the party.
Witnesses said some fraternity members broke the bird's cage, choked it, and broke its wing and a leg. Another fraternity member reportedly killed the bird to end its suffering.
KS Exhumes Bodies Of 'In Cold Blood' Killers
Kansas officials have exhumed the bodies of two men who murdered the Clutter family in 1959.
The Sherriff's office in Sarasota County, Fla., wants to collect DNA from the bodies of Richard Hickock and Perry Smith that they think could help solve four more murders.
Cliff and Christime Walker and their two children were killed in Osprey, Fla., soon after the Clutters were murdered in Holcomb, Kan., Hickock and Smith fled to Florida after the Kansas murders and were in the area when the Walkers were killed.
