Visit Wichita Parks, Answer Some Trivia, Maybe Win A Prize
A new program that encourages and rewards residents for visiting public parks was announced Friday.
The new Park Passport program encourages residents to visit 18 specific local parks, including Oak, Buffalo and Fairmont, and answer trivia-like questions posted on signs in each park.
If you visit Oak Park, for example, you'll be asked, "What is the slogan on the back of the 18th disc golf basket?"
Visit as many parks as you can, answer the questions, then drop the completed Park Passport pass off at any recreation center or Watson Park by September 3. Your pass will enter you into a drawing for items like camping equipment and bicycles.
You can pick up a pass at any recreation center, Watson Park or print one at www.wichita.gov.
In a news release, Doug Kupper, director of Wichita Park & Recreation, said the goal is for residents to see parks they may have never visited.
“They will be pleasantly surprised by what they discover at the many wildlife parks," he said.
The Park Passport program is supported by donations from the Wichita Park & Recreation Community Fund and Academy Sports & Outdoors. The city of Wichita park system has 125 parks across the Wichita area. The parks selected for the Passport Program are located in every quadrant of the city and offer various amenities.
