The Republican National Convention wrapped up in Cleveland on Thursday with an acceptance speech from GOP nominee Donald Trump. KMUW’s Carla Eckels has reaction from a Wichita delegate in attendance.
It was the first time 21-year-old Dalton Glasscock attended the Republican National Convention as a delegate; in 2012--then too young to even vote--he went as a page.
Glasscock says the evening was electrifying, and he thinks Trump’s speech helped the party come together, especially for those hesitant about Donald Trump and what he might say.
Glasscock felt Trump’s speech accomplished what he had set out to accomplish.
"There are some concerns I still have with some policy statements he made in his speech, so I’ll just see what happens when it’s me and God in the ballot box on November 8," Glasscock says, "but all I can tell you is that I'm still, and even that after this week, more ready to fight Hillary Clinton and make sure we win in November."
Glasscock says Trump addressed the Black Lives Matter movement. Trump also spoke about LGBTQ Americans, the first time Glasscock says he's heard a nominee do so in an acceptance speech.
